Vaping profiles and preferences

A new internet survey was recently published in “Addiction” journal. Researchers from the university of East London prepared a survey that was addressed to clients of two e-cigarette companies.

In total, 1349 e-cigarette users responded to the questionnaire. Interestigly, 74% of them had completely quit smoking, while an additional 14% had significantly reduced cigarette consumption. Most of the users, (72%) used 2nd generation devices (eGO batteries with tank atomizers), which shows the potential of these new products to lead to complete substitution of smoking, unlike 1st generation, cigarette-like devices.

Another important issue was the nicotine concentration of liquids used. More than 80% of the users were consuming liquid with higher than 10mg/ml nicotine concentration. Despite the high concentrations, craving was lower compared to cigarettes. Additionally, very few (less than 1%) reported any kind of adverse effects due to e-cigarette use (and there were no adverse health implications). This information should be directed towards the European Commisssion and its’ proposal for a ban on liquids with higher than 4mg/ml nicotine concentration!

We are launching our own survey that we hope will reach participation of more than 10,000 users from all over the world. I urge all of you to participate…
